Faz hoje 32 anos que foi lançado o álbum de estreia dos Guns N' Roses.
Lançado pela Geffen Records. com um orçamento total de 370 mil dólares, "Appetite for Destruction", é o disco de estreia, mais vendido na história da música e, actualmente, ocupa o 11º lugar dos álbuns mais vendidos dos Estados Unidos.
Todos os temas de "Appetite for Destruction" são ícones da história do rock:
1. "Welcome To The Jungle" - escrita por Axl Rose enquanto visitava um amigo em Seattle, fala sobre o inferno de viver numa grande cidade e dos seus perigos para quem nela se aventura, em busca de prazeres. Mais tarde, a melodia foi composta com Slash, baseada em riffs que eles tinham feito uns anos antes.
2. "It's So Easy" - composta por Duff McKagan e pelo guitarrista West Arkeen (falecido em 1997, era conhecido como "o sexto membro" do Guns N' Roses) para ser uma música acústica, e segundo Axl foi uma sugestão de Slash transformá-la num tema mais pesado. A conhecida influência punk de Duff, pode ter sido a inspiração de "It´s So Easy" cujo início nos remete para "Liar" dos Sex Pistols.
3. "Nightrain" - com riffs criados por Slash e Izzy Stradlin, este tema é uma espécie de homenagem a uma marca famosa de vinho californiano, "Night Train Express", de baixo custo e elevado teor alcoólico. A letra surgiu numa caminhada nocturna da banda. Izzy e Slash dividem o protagonismo nos solos desta música, sendo a primeira metade do primeiro solo e a intro, tocadas por Izzy, enquanto Slash toca a segunda metade do primeiro solo e o segundo solo.
4. "Out Ta Get Me" - composta em apenas três horas, tem por base um riff criado por Izzy Stradlin, foca os problemas constantes de Axl Rose com a lei.
5. "Mr. Brownstone" - escrita por Izzy Stradlin e Slash, no apartamento de sua noiva "Desi", enquanto conversavam sobre o vício dos dois em heroína. Foi o primeiro single da banda a ser lançado pela Geffen,
6. "Paradise City" - composta num regresso da banda de um concerto em São Francisco, na parte de trás de uma carrinha alugada. Slash começou a tocar o que seria, mais tarde, a introdução, quando Duff McKagan e Izzy Stradlin começaram a acompanhá-lo. Slash começou a murmurar uma melodia e é então que, Axl Rose cantou "take me down to the paradise city"... Slash, de fora a fazer uma rima, canta "where the grass is green and the girls are pretty" ... Axl cantou o primeiro verso de novo, e Slash rimou novamente com "where the girls are fat and they've got big titties". Axl, em jeito de conclusão remata "take me home! A banda continuou, cada um cantando um verso e no fim, Slash juntou tudo com o riff principal da música.
7. "My Michelle" - inspirada na história de vida Michelle Young. Michelle, amiga de adolescência de Slash, comentou com Axl Rose, num momento em que ambos ouviram "Your Song", de Elton John, que gostava muito que alguém escrevesse uma música sobre ela. Apesar de ser uma letra dura e crua, Michelle aprovou o tema que Axl escreveu, relatando a sua vida de vícios no seio de uma família disfuncional.
8. "Think About You" - escrita por Izzy Stradlin (1983/1984), é uma das poucas músicas em que Izzy toca o solo. Izzy refere que o tema fala de sexo, drogas, dinheiro e o dia-a-dia em Hollywood".
9. "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Inspirada em Erin Everly, namorada de Axl na época e sua futura esposa, este tema foi o primeiro single dos Guns N' Roses a atingir o primeiro lugar na Billboard Hot 100, durante duas semanas, em Setembro de 1988. Axl Rose chegou a oferecer metade dos royalties da música a Erin, como forma de reconhecimento da inspiração. Erin aparece no videoclipe original de "Sweet Child o' Mine", onde os membros da banda tocam o single num teatro abandonado. As namoradas dos restantes membros também surgem no video (além do cão de Izzy Stradlin, que aparece logo no início).
10. "You're Crazy" - tema originalmente escrito sem os palavrões, assume esta forma final, quando Axl Rose é atingido por uma garrafa arremessada por uma fã, durante um concerto no Raji's, Los Angeles. Axl e Duff são agredidos pela fã e o vocalista responde agredido-a com a base do microfone. Momentos antes o namorado da rapariga tinha cumprimentado banda nos bastidores.
11. "Anything Goes" - uma das primeiras músicas da banda Hollywood Rose (banda anterior de Axl Rose e que, em 1984, se fundiu com os L.A. Guns, dando origem aos Guns N' Roses) composta por Axl, Izzy Stradlin e o guitarrista Chris Weber
12. "Rocket Queen" - esta música foi um presente de uma antiga paixão de Axl - Barbi Von Greif. Barbi tinha uma banda de rock - Rocket Queen, no seu início. A gravação deste tema ficará para sempre na história do rock e dos Guns N'Roses, pois os gemidos que se ouvem de fundo, foram gravados enquanto Axl e Adrianna Smith tinham relações sexuais no chão do estúdio de gravação (acto concretizado para esse fim). De relembrar que, Adrianna Smith tinha sido namorada de Steven Adler (baterista dos Guns N'Roses)

capa que tem a imagem da cruz com as caveiras de cada um dos músicos.

Guns N 'Roses debut album has been released 32 years ago.
Released by Geffen Records. with a total budget of $ 370,000, "Appetite for Destruction," is the best-selling debut album in the history of music, and is currently number 11 on the top-selling albums in the United States.

3. "Nightrain" - with riffs created by Slash and Izzy Stradlin, this theme is a kind of homage to a famous brand of Californian wine, "Night Train Express", low cost and high alcohol content. The lyrics appeared on a night walk of the band. Izzy and Slash share the lead in the solos of this song, being the first half of the first solo and the intro, played by Izzy, while Slash plays the second half of the first solo and the second solo.
4. "Out Ta Get Me" - composed in just three hours, based on a riff created by Izzy Stradlin, focuses on Axl Rose's constant problems with the law.

Erin appears in the original music video for "Sweet Child o 'Mine," where members of the band play the single in an abandoned theater. The girlfriends of the other members also appear in the video (besides Izzy Stradlin's dog, which appears early on).
10. "You're Crazy" - a song originally written without swearing, takes on this final form when Axl Rose is hit by a bottle thrown by a fan during a concert at Raji's, Los Angeles. Axl and Duff are assaulted by the fan and the vocalist responds to it with the base of the microphone. Moments before the girl's boyfriend had greeted the band behind the scenes.

The original cover, an illustration by the artist Robert Williams of 1978, was censored in several countries for being considered too aggressive, and replaced by the cover that has the image of the cross with the skulls of each one of the musicians.
