Mais fortes do que nunca, apresentam, actualmente, a formação mais coesa e uniforme da sua existência (uma existência de 22 anos) e isso torna-os uns verdadeiros "monstros" em palco, com um som brutal, uma atitude segura e uma paixão que contamina todo o espaço

As suas actuações transformam o palco num campo de batalha, com cinco cavaleiros numa galopada mágica, onde a vitória não é questionada. Em uníssono, de bandeira elevada ao som da voz troante, encorpada e destemida. "galopam" guitarras, baixo e bateria, como se cavalos alados fossem, percorrendo florestas povoadas de seres mágicos que os acolhem em êxtase e profunda devoção.

Com dois CD's de originais, um EP, um vinil e um CD ao vivo (com todas a músicas do EP numa nova roupagem), questiono constantemente o porquê do seu pouco reconhecimento (reconhecidos num meio mais underground, continuam praticamente desconhecidos do grande público, incluindo entre os fãs de heavy metal)

Excelentes músicos, dividem a sua vida entre a paixão pela música, e uma outra vida, mais anónima e discreta, pessoal, familiar e profissional, onde só com grande devoção e espírito de sacrifício é possível equilibrar todas as partes.

Não restam dúvidas de que os Attick Demons fazem parte da história do Heavy Metal português. Mas, como já perceberam, esta não é uma história qualquer, de mais uma banda que toca umas músicas porreiras. Esta é a história dos Attick Demons e têm de a conhecer!

É comum a história começar a ser contada a partir de 1996, ano de oficialização da banda. Mas o seu início ocorre cerca de dois anos antes, na Rua de Santa Marta, bem no coração de uma Lisboa que fervilhava de música, jovens e vontade de fazer coisas.

Num sótão, propriedade dos pais de Miguel Ângelo (baixista), este e os seus amigos Gonçalo Pais (bateria) e Nuno Martins (guitarra) reuniam-se todos os fins-de-semana, para expressarem e libertarem a sua paixão: a música, sob forte influência da NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Sem saber que estavam a construir aquela que viria a ser uma grande banda de heavy metal nacional, nasciam assim os Olissipo. Com a necessidade de incluírem um vocalista, convidam Hugo Mascarenhas, mais conhecido como "Bostinha", e é então que surgem os seus dois primeiros temas: "War Cry" e "No Pride".

No início de 1996, através de um amigo comum de Gonçalo Pais, surge o convite para Luís Figueira, dos Arame Farpado, trazer a sua guitarra e ingressar a banda.

Com a formação da banda consolidada (voz, bateria, baixo e duas guitarras) os Olissipo começam a estruturar e a preparar os dois temas, com o objectivo de dar um grande passo em frente - gravar uma demo-tape, o que acontece em Março de 1996, com as gravações da "Demo-Tape'96", nos Estúdios JAP, em Sacavém. Durante as gravações, a banda percebe que o seu futuro e a forma como encaravam a música estava a mudar - já não eram apenas um grupo de amigos a fazer umas coisas interessantes, eram uma banda que estava a nascer. Surge então a questão da mudança de nome, questão que logo passou a segundo plano, devido à dedicação à gravação da Demo-Tape, mas que volta a surgir, quando o produtor questiona qual o nome da banda para escrever no Master.

Para os ainda, Olissipo, o nome da banda tinha de os definir, ser a sua identidade, e foi quando o Luís se lembrou que os Aerosmith tinham um álbum chamado "Toys In The Attic", o que de certa forma aludia ao local onde a banda ensaiava - um sótão (attic) - e o Miguel recordou que as senhoras que moravam perto do sótão, os apelidavam de "demoniozinhos", devido ao barulho que faziam logo de manhã. Surgem então os Attick Demons. Attick, mal escrito, com k no final (a correcta ortografia é Attic) é culpa do Luís Figueira, mas tal como o próprio refere: "Megadeth e Helloween também estão mal escritos e ninguém se chateia por isso!!!" (risos)

Hugo "Bostinha" e Miguel Ângelo saem da banda em 1997, e os seus lugares são ocupados pelo Nélson Martins (baixo) e pelo Artur Almeida (voz), cuja entrada para a banda acontece quase por acaso: o Artur é levado a um dos ensaios dos Attick Demons, pelo Miguel Ângelo, que o tinha ouvido a cantar no quartel onde ambos eram bombeiros. O Luís não esteve nesse ensaio e quando os outros elementos lhe mostraram a cassete com a gravação, este fica tão surpreendido com a capacidade vocal do Artur que não restaram dúvidas sobre a sua entrada na banda. Artur Almeida, fã incondicional de AC/DC, com a sua voz encorpada, de agudos perfeitos e timbre envolvente, traz uma nova sonoridade vocal, bem mais poderosa e heavy metal, contrastando com a voz anterior, de influências punk.

Com esta nova formação é lançada uma segunda promo-tape, com os temas originais "Visions", "The Believer", "It Was You", "Attick Demons" e a cover "Carry On" dos Manowar. Começam a surgir os concertos, com uma assistência ainda a experimentar este novo som e atitude. Mas para além das actuações ao vivo, os Attick Demons querem mais e vão compondo músicas para um primeiro EP.

Em 1998, o baixista Nélson Martins sai e entra para o seu lugar António Durães. O EP, homónimo, é lançado em 2000 e é muito bem-recebido pelos fans deste género musical, tendo a banda uma agenda cheia de concertos nacionais e internacionais. Em Espanha, os Attick Demons estreiam-se com os Oratory, a 4 de Maio de 2001. Na gravação do EP, a banda tem como músico convidado o teclista João Costa, que passa a integrar os Attick Demons até ao final de 2001, data da sua saída.

Uma nova demo é gravada, no final de 2003, já com os olhares num primeiro LP, o que só acontecerá oito anos mais tarde.

No ano de 2004, nova alteração na formação da banda com a saída de António Durães, passando o baixo a ser dominado por João Nabais Clemente e pela sua forma de estar em palco tão característica e interactiva com o público e os outros elementos da banda. A sua entrada acontece através do cunhado de Artur Almeida, de quem era colega de trabalho, e que teve conhecimento de que a banda estava sem baixista. Mas a verdade é que a entrada de João Clemente nos Attick Demons parecia estar destinada. Baixista dos Blackfeather, é o próprio que conta que se cruzou com os Attick Demons algumas vezes, entre as quais existe até uma entrevista marcada para os Blackfeather, à qual a banda faltou e que acabou por ser feita aos Attick Demons, que se encontravam pelo mesmo local.

No mesmo ano entra Hugo Monteiro para o lugar de Nuno Martins, que sai por motivos profissionais. No entanto, esta saída de Nuno Martins, não é um adeus aos Attick Demons, mantendo-se sempre em aberto o seu regresso, que acontecerá em Setembro de 2007. Os Attick Demons têm agora a sua formação consolidada: Artur Almeida (voz), João Clemente (baixo), Gonçalo Pais (bateria), Luís Figueira, Hugo Monteiro e Nuno Martins (guitarras). É com esta formação que a banda trabalha no seu primeiro LP, que em 2011 é lançado pela Pure Steel Records, com o título "Atlantis".

Com "Atlantis", a banda prova que merece um lugar de destaque no panorama musical mais pesado. Boa composição musical, letras fortes e uma voz poderosa, associadas a um leque de convidados de renome, tais como Paul Di'Anno (Iron Maiden) ou Ross the Boss (Death Leader, Manowar) e masterização a cargo de Andy LaRocque, fazem com que o álbum seja muito bem-recebido pelo público e pela imprensa. A sua promoção faz-se por todo o território nacional e internacional destacando-se a abertura para os W.A.S.P. no Campo Pequeno, em 2012 e a participação em vários festivais europeus, tais como Swordbrothers (Alemanha - 2012) ou Metaldays (Eslovénia - 2013).

Em 2015 nova alteração na bateria, já com a pré-produção do segundo álbum concluída- sai Gonçalo Pais, que por motivos pessoais decidiu seguir outros caminhos, e entra Ricardo Allonzo, que pelas suas raízes sul-americanas (o Ricardo é brasileiro) traz um novo estilo à secção rítmica da banda.

O segundo álbum vê a luz do dia em 2016, com o nome "Let's Raise Hell" e, tal como já acontecera com o "Atlantis", conta com a participação de alguns convidados bem conhecidos internacionalmente, tais como Chris Caffery dos Savatage. Bem diferente do anterior, este álbum mostra-se mais forte e de sonoridades mais pesadas. É o segundo álbum de uma banda que não se acomoda, que evolui e que cresce, que procura sempre mais mantendo a identidade de excelência que os caracteriza.

A gravação de "Let's Raise Hell" foi um momento marcante e decisivo para o futuro dos Attick Demons. De acordo com as palavras de Luís Figueira, em entrevista ao programa Alta Tensão (Antena 3) de 28 de Outubro de 2016, "durante a gravação houve momentos mais difíceis (gravação e mistura), ideias muito diferentes dos diversos membros, alterações na banda, foi uma fase menos boa. Foi colocada a hipótese de acabar com a banda, o que aconteceu por dois dias (risos). Elementos menos comprometidos com o projecto, faltas aos ensaios, falta de investimento pessoal. Foi um parto difícil" 

Hugo Monteiro sai da banda em finais de 2015 e Ricardo Allonzo em 2016, passando a bateria a ser dominada pelo Ricardo Oliveira, também baterista dos My Enchantment. A entrada de Ricardo Oliveira para os Attick Demons é contada pelo próprio:

"Bem, basicamente cheguei atrasado... Tinha uma mensagem do Luís no facebook, mas como nem éramos amigos, a mensagem andava para lá perdida" (Ricardo Oliveira)

Por causa disso, perderam-se umas datas que tinham em Inglaterra. Daí ter dito que cheguei atrasado... A minha namorada e o Luís já eram amigos e o Luís falou-lhe acerca de mim, para ela vir falar comigo. Foi nessa altura que vi a tal mensagem. Bem, depois combinámos uma reunião em Almada, com o Artur também. Eu mostrei-me interessado e eles mandaram-me umas 6 músicas, mais coisa menos coisa para eu ir ouvindo. Lembro-me que era a "Back In Time", a "Flame Of Eternal Knowledge", a "City Of Golden Gates", "Riding The Storm", "Ritual", "Let's Raise Hell" e "The Believer". Pelo menos essas eram, mas acho que eram mais duas... A ideia era, eu escolher uma ou duas para fazer um ensaio com eles. Quando lá cheguei, ao ensaio, foi aí que os lixei (risos)... porque tinha tirado TODAS! Até se passaram... No fim do ensaio, o Luís virou-se e disse "Bem, podemos marcar o concerto de apresentação?""

O concerto de apresentação de que o Ricardo fala, é o seu concerto de estreia, no Santuário do Rock, concerto esse que tinha sido desmarcado devido aos problemas e instabilidade que a banda estava a viver no momento. Ricardo Oliveira dá provas de ser um verdadeiro Demon e mostra-se à altura de um "Let's Raise Hell" bem poderoso, tal como o demonstra logo no primeiro concerto e reforça na actuação no Rustfest (Nirvana Estúdios) no dia 2 de Julho e no concerto de lançamento do álbum, no RCA Club, a 29 de Outubro de 2016.

Em 2017, levaram o seu "Let´s Raise Hell" a Espanha, país onde são aclamados e têm já uma legião de fans: a primeira vez foi a 23 e 24 de Junho, acompanhados pelos Inner Blast, e actuaram em Badajoz (Sala Metalarium) e em Madrid (38 Special). A 11 de Novembro regressam a Madrid e ao espaço 38 Special, para mais um concerto de sala cheia.

Os Attick Demons não vivem exclusivamente da música, mas a sua dedicação e força de vontade são verdadeiramente admiráveis, como o demonstra o facto de terem criado paralelamente, durante cerca de três anos, a banda "Live After Demons", uma banda de tributo aos Iron Maiden, cujo objectivo foi angariar verbas para suportar os custos de gravação dos CD's. Esta atitude revela bem a tenacidade, persistência e espírito lutador que os caracterizam.

Actualmente, os Attick Demons estão presentes nos grandes eventos nacionais de heavy metal, transformando os palcos onde actuam em verdadeiros tronos musicais, fazendo com excelência o que tão bem sabem fazer: música de qualidade, com garra e paixão!

Attick Demons are a heavyweight reference in European Heavy Metal. Stronger than ever, they have the most cohesive and uniform formation of their existence (a 22-year existence) and this makes them real "monsters" on stage, with a brutal sound, a safe attitude and a passion which contaminates the entire space

His performances transform the stage into a battlefield, with five riders on a magical gallop, where victory is not questioned. In unison, flag raised to the sound of the troting voice, full and fearless, "gallop" guitars, bass and drums, as if winged horses were going through forests populated by magical beings who welcome them in ecstasy and deep devotion.

These five knights, demons of an enchanted attic, imposing but with a smile on their faces, conquer all space with their ferocity, power, union and excellence. Sonorous forests that lift souls to a lost Atlantis, a dark Adamastor, or a growing Ritual of pleasure.

More than a reference, Attick Demons are one of the best European bands of classic Heavy Metal and they meet all the requirements to be the best, the strongest and imposing Portuguese band.

With two original CD's, an EP, a vinyl and a live CD (with all the EP songs in a new "outfit"), I constantly question why they are not very well known (recognized in underground, they are practically unknown to the general public, including among heavy metal fans).

Excellent musicians divide their lives between a passion for music and another life, anonymous and discreet, personal, family and professional, where only with great devotion and spirit of sacrifice can balance all the parts.

There is no doubt that Attick Demons are part of the history of Portuguese Heavy Metal. But, as you've noticed, this is not a story of another band that plays some songs. This is the story of Attick Demons and you have to know it!

It is common for the story to begin to be told from 1996, the band's birth official year. But the beginning occurs about two years earlier, in Rua de Santa Marta, right in the heart of a Lisbon that was teeming with music, young people and the will to do things.

In an attic, owned by the parents of Miguel Ângelo (bass player), he and his friends Gonçalo Pais (drums) and Nuno Martins (guitar) met every weekend to express and release their passion: music, under strong influence of NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Without knowing that they were building what would be a great national heavy metal band, the Olissipo were born. With the need to include a vocalist, they invite Hugo Mascarenhas, better known as "Bostinha", and then their first two songs appear: "War Cry" and "No Pride".

At the beginning of 1996, through a friend of Gonçalo Pais, they invited to Luís Figueira, from "Arame Farpado" (a punk band), who came and brought his guitar, and joined the band.

With the band's formation consolidated (voice, drums, bass and two guitars) the Olissipo begin to structure and prepare the two tracks, with the aim of taking a big step forward - recording a demo tape, which happens in March of 1996, with the recordings of "Demo-Tape'96", in the JAP Studios, in Sacavém. During the recording, the band realizes that their future and the way they were looking at music were changing - they were no longer just a group of friends doing some interesting things, they were a band that was being born. Then the question of name change emerges, a matter that soon became second, due to the dedication to the recording of Demo-Tape, but that comes back, when the producer questions the name of the band to write in the Master.

For them, Olissipo, the name of the band had to define them, to be their identity, and it was when Luis remembered that the Aerosmith had an album called "Toys In The Attic", which, in a way, alluded to the place where the band rehearsed - attic - and Miguel recalled that the ladies who lived near the attic were nicknamed them "little devils" because of the noise they made early in the morning. The Attick Demons appear. Attick, poorly written, with k at the end, is Luís Figueira's fault, but as he himself says: "Megadeth and Helloween are also badly written and no one gets upset about it !!!" (laughs)

Hugo "Bostinha" and Miguel Ângelo leave the band in 1997, and their seats are occupied by Nélson Martins (bass) and Artur Almeida (vocals), whose entrance to the band happens almost by chance: Artur is taken to one of the rehearsals of the Attick Demons, by Migue Angelo, who had heard him sing in the fire station where they were both firefighters. Luis was not in this rehearsal and when the other elements showed him the tape with the recording, he was so surprised by the vocal ability of Artur that there were no doubts about his entrance into the band. Artur Almeida, an AC / DC unconditional fan with his full-bodied voice, perfect treble and engaging timbre, brings a new vocal sound, much more powerful and heavy metal, contrasting with the previous voice of punk influences.

This new line-up features a second promo-tape, with original tracks "Visions", "The Believer", "It Was You", "Attick Demons" and Manowar's "Carry On" cover. The concerts begin to emerge, with assistance still experiencing this new sound and attitude. But in addition to the lives performances, the Attick Demons want more and are composing songs for a first EP.

In 1998, the bass player Nélson Martins leaves and enters for his place António Durães. The self-titled EP was released in 2000 and is very well received by fans of this musical genre, with the band having a full schedule of national and international concerts. In Spain, the Attick Demons debuts with the Oratory on May 4, 2001. In the recording of the EP, the band has as invited musician, the keyboardist João Costa, who joins the Attick Demons until the end of 2001.

A new demo is recorded at the end of 2003, already with the looks in a first LP, which will only happen eight years later.

In 2004, a new change in the formation of the band with the departure of António Durães, passing the bass to be dominated by João Nabais Clemente and his way of being on stage so characteristic and interactive with the audience and other elements of the band. His entry comes through the brother-in-law of Artur Almeida, of whom he was a work colleague, and who learned that the band was without a bass player. But the truth is that João Clemente's entry into the Attick Demons seemed destined. Blackfeather bassist, is the one who tells that he has met the Attick Demons a few times, among which there is even an interview scheduled for the Blackfeather, which the band missed and eventually became the Attick Demons, who were at same location.

In the same year enters Hugo Monteiro for the place of Nuno Martins, who leaves for professional reasons. However, this departure of Nuno Martins, is not a goodbye to the Attick Demons, always keeping open its return, which will take place in September 2007. The Attick Demons now have their consolidated formation: Artur Almeida (voice), João Clemente (bass), Gonçalo Pais (drums), Luís Figueira, Hugo Monteiro and Nuno Martins (guitars). It is with this line-up that the band works on their first LP, which in 2011 is released by Pure Steel Records, titled "Atlantis".

With "Atlantis", the band proves that it deserves a prominent place in the heaviest musical scene. Good musical composition, strong lyrics and a powerful voice, coupled with an array of well-known guests such as Paul Di'Anno (Iron Maiden) or Ross the Boss (Death Leader, Manowar) and mastering by Andy LaRocque, makes that the album is very well received by the public and the press. Its promotion is carried out throughout the national and international territory, highlighting the opening to the W.A.S.P. in Campo Pequeno in 2012 and participation in several European festivals such as Swordbrothers (Germany - 2012) or Metaldays (Slovenia - 2013).

In 2015 a new change in the drums, already with the pre-production of the second album concluded, Gonçalo Pais, who for personal reasons decided to follow other paths, and enters Ricardo Allonzo, who for his South American roots (Ricardo is Brazilian) brings a new style to the rhythm section of the band.

The second album sees the light of day in 2016, with the name "Let's Raise Hell" and, as has happened with "Atlantis", has the participation of some well known international guests such as Chris Caffery of the Savatage. Very different from the previous one, this album shows itself stronger and of heavier sonorities. It is the second album of a band that does not settle, that evolves and that grows, that always looks for more, maintaining the identity of excellence that characterizes them.

The recording of "Let's Raise Hell" was a mark and a decisive moment for the future of the Attick Demons. According to Luís Figueira, in an interview with the Alta Tensão (Antena 3 radio) program of October 28, 2016, "during the recording there were many difficult moments (recording and mixing), very different ideas of the various members, changes in the band was a less good phase.It was hypothesized to end the band, which happened for two days (laughs), elements less committed to the project, lack of rehearsals, lack of personal investment.It was a difficult birth "

Hugo Monteiro left the band at the end of 2015 and Ricardo Allonzo in 2016, passing the drums to be dominated by Ricardo Oliveira, also drummer of My Enchantment. Ricardo Oliveira's entry for the Attick Demons is told by himself:

"Well, I was basically late ... I had a message from Luis on facebook, but since we were not friends, the message was lost there, so some dates were lost in England, so I said I was late ... My girlfriend and Luis were already friends and Luís told her about me, so she could come and talk to me. It was then that I saw that message. Well, we later arranged a meeting in Almada with Artur as well. I was interested, and they sent me 6 songs, for me, to hear. I remember it was" Back In Time", " Flame Of Eternal Knowledge", " City Of Golden Gates ", " Riding The Storm", "Ritual"," Let's Raise Hell, "and" The Believer. " At least these were, but I think they were two more ... The idea was, I choose one or two to do a rehearsal. When I got there, at the rehearsal, that's when I screwed them up (laughs) ... because I had taken ALL! At the end of the rehearsal, Luis turned and said, "Well, can we book the concert?" "

The concerT of which Ricardo speaks, is his concert of debut, in the Sanctuary of the Rock, concert that had been cleared due to the problems and instability that the band was living at the moment. Ricardo Oliveira gives proof of being a true Demon and shows up to a very powerful "Let's Raise Hell", as it demonstrates soon in the first concert and reinforces in the performance in the Rustfest (Nirvana Studios) on the 2 of July and in the concert at the RCA Club on October 29, 2016.

In 2017, they took their "Let's Raise Hell" to Spain, where they are acclaimed and already have a legion of fans: the first time was on 23 and 24 June, accompanied by the Inner Blast, and performed in Badajoz (Metalarium) and in Madrid (38 Special). On November 11 they return to Madrid and to the 38 Special, for another full-house concert.

The Attick Demons do not live exclusively on music, but their dedication and willpower are truly admirable, as demonstrated by the fact that they created the band "Live After Demons," a tribute band for Iron Maiden, whose goal was to raise money to support the cost of recording CD's. This attitude reveals well the tenacity, persistence and fighting spirit that characterize them.

Today Attick Demons are present at major national heavy metal events, transforming the stages where they perform on true musical thrones, doing with excellence what they know how to do: quality music, with passion!
