O que é que têm em comum a História de Portugal, barris de vinho em mogno, guitarras, Led Zeppelin e luthiers?
"The Guitar Barrel Project", um projecto que tem como mentor o luthier português, Adriano Sérgio.
A ideia surgiu quando Adriano descobriu os barris de vinho, que remontam à época do Marquês de Pombal, desmontados e cheios de pó, que, à passagem da sua mão, revelaram os maravilhosos matizes do mogno. E a velha máxima de "quando o homem sonha, a obra nasce" ganhou imediatamente forma.
Adriano Sérgio, o luthier com sorriso de menino e olhar cheio de sonhos, deu forma à ideia de transformar a história em música, ou melhor, de permitir dar musicalidade à nossa História, através de instrumentos musicais criados com muita paixão.
Convidou cinco luthiers de renome internacional, e nasceu assim o "The Guitar Barrel Project", que junta, para além do próprio Adriano Sérgio (Ergon Guitars, Portugal) os seguintes nomes: Ulrich Teuffel (Teuffel Guitars, Alemanha), Nik Huber (Nik Huber Guitars, Alemanha), Claudio & Claudia Pagelli (Pagelli Gitarrenbau, Suíça), Michael Spalt (Spalt Instruments, Áustria) e Andy Manson (Andy Manson Guitars, Portugal).
E é com Andy Manson, inglês a viver em Mortágua (Portugal), que a história se cruza com os Led Zeppelin, e dois dos instrumentos icónicos de John Paul Jones e Jimmy Page.
Em 1974, Andy Manson cria uma "triple-neck" para John Paul Jones: guitarra de 6 e 12 cordas e mandolim, instrumento muito tocado nos concertos acústicos dos Led Zeppelin, nos anos 70.

Vinte anos mais tarde, em 1994, Andy volta a contruir uma triple-neck, desta vez para Jimmy Page e que viria a ser usada em "No Quarter: Jimmy Page & Robert Plant Unledded"

What do the history of Portugal, mahogany wine barrels, guitars, Led Zeppelin and luthiers have in common?
"The Guitar Barrel Project", a project that has as a mentor the Portuguese luthier, Adriano Sérgio.
The idea came when Adriano discovered the barrels of wine, which date back to the time of the Marquês de Pombal, dismantled and filled with dust, which, in the passage of his hand, revealed the wonderful shades of mahogany. And the old maxim of "when man dreams, the work is born" immediately gained form.
Adriano Sérgio, the luthier with a boy's smile and full of dreams, shaped the idea of transforming history into music, or rather, to give musicality to our History through musical instruments created with a lot of passion.
He invited five internationally acclaimed luthiers, and was born the "The Guitar Barrel Project", which includes, in addition to Adriano Sérgio (Ergon Guitars, Portugal) the following names: Ulrich Teuffel (Teuffel Guitars, Germany), Nik Huber (Nik Huber Guitars, Germany), Claudio & Claudia Pagelli (Pagelli Gitarrenbau, Switzerland), Michael Spalt (Spalt Instruments, Austria) and Andy Manson (Andy Manson Guitars, Portugal).
And it's with Andy Manson, an Englishman living in Mortágua (Portugal), that the story intersects with Led Zeppelin, and two of the iconic instruments of John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page.
In 1974, Andy Manson created a triple-neck for John Paul Jones: 6 and 12 string guitars and mandolin, an instrument most played in the acoustic concerts of Led Zeppelin in the 70's.
